“Why do you wear that?” the Healer asked.

Draco toyed with the red elastic on his wrist. “I wear a red one for when I’m with Hermione, green for when I’m with Scorpius.”

“You’re meaning you can’t tell whether you’re asleep or awake in this very moment?”

Draco hunched forward and ran his hands through his hair. He could hear the Healer furiously scribbling on the parchment in his lap.

“Mr. Malfoy, your mind has created an entire reality to cope with the loss of a loved one. But I can assure you, this is not a dream.”

“That’s what the other Healer said.” Draco lifted his head, determination replacing the tiredness in his eyes. “And if the price of seeing my wife and son, having them in my life is my sanity… then it’s a price I will happily pay.”
