Hermione Granger has headed back to Hogwarts to finish her 7th year. With her highly prized intelligence and her recent accolades from the war, she unsuspectingly wins popularity.

Previous it girls, Cho Chang, Daphne Greengrass, and Romilda Vane ally themselves with Hermione and the foursome easily becomes the most influential group at the school. But Hermione quickly learns that the others have no problem with maliciously ruling the school. And she longs to have her old life back. 

Unexpectedly, Draco Malfoy shows up at the school. The ex-Death Eater has returned as an outsider and gets into several fights, one of which nearly results in expulsion. Hermione can’t help but be fascinated by him and is compelled to help.
